The heritage 2,000 sqm warehouse building in Shanghai, the office is located in, provided a unique space. The discipline was clear: simple space with simple rules. Blocks of different heights and different materials give the guidance through-out the open space such as kitchen, meeting rooms, presentation walls or central enclosed rooms for privacy. 

Colors kept very neutral within the construction. Giving highlight to the receptions blue-dyed terrazzo and the staircase in a pink stucco. In addition, accents of color were designed for all movable seats and cushions. The center of both floors is designed to be a central gathering place for open communication and interactions, closer to the window areas the privacy increased with individual working desks for all employees.

With this design we wanted to bring back the joy and fun to office spaces for our client, who moved to a new property in Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong. Open space where the teams work perfectly in harmony, creating a big net- work of multiple uses, recreational spaces, meeting rooms, easy catch ups and private calls.

For the design we looked back into “Memphis” decade and put it in a modern perspective of todays time. Creating a new design of simplicity and joy, with accents and splashes of color.The multi-functional utilities were placed along the inner walls of the building as singular, independent boxes, with different depths and sizes; each given a unique surface in color and material, to bring the space a more dynamic perspective.

Along the window all employees enjoy the daylight and stunning views across the Harbour. Spreading “radical positivity”, as the brand claims their slogan, by using rich colors and materials, such as the deep blue carpet, the emerald green fabrics or yellow laminated panelings.
